36% of homes produce 73 times more pollution

In the Comox Valley, wood heat generates 73 times more harmful fine particulate matter (PM2.5) than all other sources of home heating (even though only an estimated 36% of homes use wood for all or part of their heat).

Fine particulate matter is the number one air pollutant of concern in BC according to BC Healthlink.

Data is from an inventory of emissions generated in 2015 in the Comox Valley.
